Susannah was the name of my maternal great-great grandmother, and my mother Susan was named after her. Although my mother is not a practicing Christian, she instilled a love for God in my heart and for that I will always be thankful. Therefore, I wanted an icon of this Holy Myrrh-bearer - who's name she was given in - to remind me to ask for her intercessions before Christ on my mother's behalf. There is a soft, gentle tenderness which exudes from the face of the saint in this representation of her that I find very comforting. And the fact that the garment she is clothed in is green makes it even more perfect since that is my mother's favorite color!

I purchased this as a gift for a friend of our shared patron saint. Saint Susanna icons are not easy to find. This one is beautiful and the quality is excellent.
