I sensed a sensitivity and love for Fr, Seraphim Rose by the Iconographer who wrote this incredibly detailed icon. The colors are warm and invite me to pray. From Hieromonk Damascene's book, Father Seraphim Rose His Life and Works: "Let no darkness cloud your path, and no trial come upon you in which you do not immediately turn to Christ our All-Merciful God. Who has trampled upon death and abolished the power of the devil. Remain in Christ's grace and He will guide you all to salvation...and you will know why you are alive and for what you are striving. Christ is Risen!" This incredible icon turns me to Christ.
Fr. Seraphim has been leading me by my hand into Holy Orthodoxy. The first day I ever walked into an Orthodox Church, his book "The Soul After Death" was one of the first I picked up. "Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future" amazed me by its razor sharp analysis of the modern days, and this icon accurately portrays Fr. Seraphim's piercing gaze into things temporal and eternal. I bought the XL size and it is simply stunning.
I had been looking for an icon of Seraphim Rose that had his famous motto: "Brethren: It is Later Than You Think. Hasten, Therefore To Do The Work Of God" I remind myself of this every day. I love the eyes on this icon. They radiate his love and faith. Seraphim Rose consistently proclaimed the absolute truth of the holy Orthodox Church. I hope that he will soon be glorified as a saint. Like all icons from Uncut Mountain Supply, this one is mounted on beautiful sturdy wood and has lovely colors.
