Icon of St. Theodora of Sihla - 20th c. - (1TH08)

I was unfamiliar with this great Romanian hermitess until I saw her icon offered here. It instantly captivated me and so I went to find out who she was. Her solitary life of prayer, fasting, and ascetcism equals any of the early desert fathers and mothers, like Saint Anthony the Great or Saint Mary of Egypt. And she too survived on wild herbs and pieces of bread brought to her by birds as this beautiful icon shows. She can read a comprehensive account of her remarkable life here:

My expectations for this icon were very high and they were more than met. The icon is arrestingly beautiful. It is peaceful and inspiring. You are likely to become attached to her in all right and Godly ways, I suspect, as have I.

Absolutely beautiful and very touching

I purchased a second copy of this icon for our main family prayer corner and am very pleased. The laminate print looks great in a frame.
